Awen Cultural Trust

Awen Cultural Trust provides a range of activities for older people in Bridgend County through libraries and community venues which are accessible, welcoming spaces with friendly, trained staff.

Libraries offer a warm community space providing opportunities for lifelong learning through courses, workshops, local and family history information and of course – reading. You’ll also be able to socialise, meet new people and stay connected to your community through group activities.

You’ll find library branches in AberkenfigBettwsBridgendMaestegOgmore ValePencoedPontycymmerPorthcawlPyle and Sarn where people can borrow books, Cd’s, DVD’s and audio books, as well as using computers and accessing local reading groups. For people who cannot get to their local library there is also a mobile library and housebound service.

Awen also run community venues such as Maesteg Town Hall, which is undergoing a multi-million pound redevelopment to create a space to be the cultural heart of the Llynfi valley, with chances to discover the building’s cultural heritage spread throughout the venue, which will be equipped with versatile spaces to host a wide variety of events.

Bryngarw Park is another of Awen’s cultural spaces, with over 100 acres of beautiful parkland to explore, and regular outdoor events and courses to get involved with!
